Norsk Hydro makes big Iran oil discovery - paper

OSLO, Dec 7 (Reuters) - Norwegian energy and aluminium group Norsk Hydro (NHY.OL: Quote, Profile, Research) has made a significant oil discovery in Iran near the border with Iraq, Norwegian business daily Dagens Naeringsliv reported on Wednesday.
"We believe the Anaran field may be one of the most important oil discoveries of recent years," Norsk Hydro's head of oil and energy operations Tore Torvund told an oil conference in Teheran, the newspaper said.
In August, Torvund had said that Anaran could produce 100,000 barrels per day, which would correspond to a medium-sized field on the Norwegian continental shelf, the paper said.
"Now the volumes could prove to be even bigger," Dagens Naeringsliv said, citing a Norsk Hydro spokeswoman.
