French Aug trade deficit 2.363 bln eur vs revised July deficit 2.537 - Forbes.com

PARIS (AFX) - French provisional, seasonally-adjusted trade figures for August showed a deficit of 2.363 bln eur compared with a deficit of 2.537 bln in July, revised from a deficit of 2.669 bln eur reported originally.

Exports in August totalled 29.761 bln eur compared with 28.611 bln the month before, revised from 28.542 bln.

Imports were 32.124 bln eur compared with 31.148 bln in July, revised from 31.211 bln reported originally.

The trade balance for the year to date widened to a deficit of 15.083 bln eur compared with a deficit of 2.378 bln over the same period last year.

Food products showed an August surplus of 609 mln eur against a 630 mln surplus in July.

The Energy balance in the month gave a deficit of 3.47 bln eur compared with a deficit of 3.275 bln a month ago, while the industrial balance showed a surplus of 154 mln eur, up from a deficit of 478 mln last time.

Airbus aircraft exports totalled 11 valued at 748 mln eur versus 16 in July for 1.017 bln.

France's trade balance with the other members of the EU was a negative 515 mln eur in August, up from a negative 596 mln the previous month, while trade with Germany showed a deficit of 1.157 bln eur compared with a negative 914 mln the month before.

The trade balance with the rest of the euro zone was a deficit of 1.147 bln eur compared with a 1.166 bln eur deficit in July.

Trade with Japan in August was minus 460 mln eur against a deficit of 417 mln, while the US gave a surplus of 106 mln eur versus plus 205 mln.
